Stephanie Davidson and Georg Rafailidis work together as DAVIDSON RAFAILIDIS (www.davidsonrafailidis.net). The interest underlying much of their work is the friction between the original design intentions for spaces and buildings, and the much richer built reality and unpredictable lives that buildings inevitably have. In most of their work, they study existing built conditions – sometimes these studies evolve into built works and sometimes the studies take the form of documentation (drawings, photographs, writing). The realized work of DAVIDSON RAFAILIDIS embraces frugality; projects are accomplished on lean budgets and are seen as case studies in financially accessible architecture: space for everyone.

Stephanie Davidson (*London, Ontario, Canada) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction (Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada) before studying architecture at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) and the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, England). Davidson worked in offices in Montreal, Canada and Cologne, Germany and in the Berlin offices of sauerbruch hutton and Gonzalez Haase, before teaming-up with Georg Rafailidis. Davidson is currently an assistant professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada.
Georg Rafailidis (*Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany) studied physics before switching to architecture at the University of Applied Sciences, Munich (Germany), followed by post-professional studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, England). Rafailidis worked for Herzog & de Meuron in London and Basel, before teaming-up with Stephanie Davidson. Rafailidis is currently an associate professor at The State University of New York at Buffalo.
