Curriculum vitae:

Maria Ananiadou- Tzimopoulou, Landscape Architect DPLG, is Professor in the scientific field of Landscape and Οpen Space Design at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Architecture, where she is teaching landscape architecture since 1974.

Born in Thessaloniki, she holds the Diploma of Agricultural Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Agriculture and Forestry, the diploma of Landscape Architect DPLG from French, Ecole Nationale Superieure du Paysage, Versailles and the Dr. in Landscape Architecture from the Faculty of Technology, School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 2002 she co-organized and is the director of the two years master of Landscape Architecture in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is also a member of the Environment Council of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 1999 and during 2005-2010 she was elected as Head of the Council.

In addition to teaching and research she practices landscape architecture with projects in Greece and abroad invited from organisms and academies (as MAB, COG, UNESCO, UIA, IAA..) to international workshops and competitions of urban design (as f.e. Evora- Portugal, New Spitak- Armenia, Bukhara- Uzbekistan USSR, Aghia Napa, Lemesos, Larnaka- Cyprus, Ur- Perpignan France...) She manages the “architectopia” office, specializing in projects and winning competitions of urban landscape, open and public space design. Maria Ananiadou Tzimopoulou, published 158 papers in scientific journals (Technika Chronika, Geotechika, Anthos, Topos, Landscape and Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture Europe, Landscape Design, IAA Journal...), in conference proceedings (IFLA, IAPS, MAB...), participating also in exhibitions (Biennale Venice, Sofia...) and competitions with winning entries or as jury member (RSP, UIA, IAA...). She also published books in greek and english. About 74 between the projects she elaborated, a lot of them winning projects in panhellenic and international competitions, are presented in publications.

  • Urban tissue and square, Mesa Geitonia, Lemesos, Cyprus (2000). 1st award
  • Telloglion Institution Grounds, Thessaloniki (1996).
  • Ayios Kosmas Seafront and Park, Athens (2004).
  • South – East Gate, Thessaloniki (2006), 2nd award
  • Ecopark Altinalmazi (ex caserne), Alexandroupolis (2009).
  • Veroia’s urban network anasyntaxis (pedestrian paths, squares, parks, Elia, Ayios Antonios, Koraka, the Walls), (2010).
  • Reformation of Αχειροποιήτου - Agias Sofias Axis, Thessaloniki (2012). 2nd award

Among the projects of landscape design, restoration and planning in relation to large scale technical projects are:

  • Egnatia Highway Alexandroupoli – Kipoi (1999).
  • Landscape of the Ayia Varvara dam reservoir, Aliakmonas river (1999).
  • Agrosykias dam reservoir environment in Aliakmonas river, Pella (2001).

Member of the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece (GEOT.GG), Panhellenic Association of Landscape Architects (PSAT), Societe Francaise des Paysagistes DPLG (S.F.P.), Association des anciens eleves (E.N.S.P.).
