Symposium on Greek Diaspora and Immigration

The Masters Program in Museology and Cultural Management (A.U.Th.  & Univ. of Western Macedonia) organize a Symposium on Greek Diaspora and Immigration. The Symposium, that wishes to be a part of the celebrations for the International Museum Day (the theme chosen for 2017 is “Museums and Contested Histories: Saying the Unspeakable in Museums”) constitutes the first public presentation of the Greek Diaspora and Immigration Research Program. Operating under the auspices of the Institute of International Education, USA and the FULBRIGHT Foundation, the program is funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for a collaboration with academics  holding a professorship in Greek Studies, namely Yiorgos Anagnostou and Nikos Poulopoulos in the State University of Ohio and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, respectively, two of the main speakers.  The Symposium includes 1. An Exhibition of Photographs (by Niki Gleoudi), 2. Theatrical Performance (by  Thanassis Sarantos), 3. Documentary Screening (“Taxisyneidisia”) and Commentary by K. Karpozilos. The Symposium closes with the announcement of the founding of DRIMMI (“Diaspora Research and Immigration Initiative”).
